A Sample Of What To Expect

I have soooo... much to tell you about regarding Ringworm Treatment,
both via my website and through my email based Mini-Course. So let me
start out below by providing you with short introduction to the fungal
infection known as Ringworm.

Introducing Ringworm

For instance, have you ever wondered where the word "worm" in Ringworm
came from? Believe it or not, a worm does doesn't have anything to do
with causing Ringworm. A fungus, Ringworm actually lives within your
skin, finally spreading to the top layer. Unfortunately, because it has
an incubation period of ten days, people will commonly not realize that
they have the disease until they have already had it for that amount of
time.

Animals are hosts of Ringworm, so the most likely means of contracting
Ringworm is to come in contact with animals (or other people), that are
already infected. It can also be contracted from touching everyday
objects such as clothes, blankets, gloves, etc... which have been
previously used by an infected party. A more obscure way of contracting
Ringworm is via contact with infected soil. But that is seldom the
means of infection in the case of people. Animals are more likely to
pick up Ringworm through soil contamination.

Types of Ringworm

Were you aware that Jock Itch and Athlete's Foot are also forms of
Ringworm? Like the circular for of the Ringworm rash, Jock Itch is a
rash that is typically found in the skin folds of the groin. It will
also be observed as a red, itchy rash. Athlete's foot has the
appearance of thick, dry and scaly skin on the base of the feet or
between the toes. In actual fact, Ringworm of the hand often looks very
similar to Athlete's Foot. Open sores and moistness between the fingers
are also common symptoms when it comes to Ringworm of the hand.

Types of Treatment

Although the treatment of Ringworm can be fairly straight forward, be
aware that there are several different forms that range considerably in
severity. So, while the over-the-counter anti-fungal medications may be
the preference for some people (often providing varying results, the
only solution sometimes is to obtain a prescription from your doctor.
Either way, it is recommended that you refrain from scratching any rash
you might have. While Ringworm can be a very itchy irritation,
scratching is often the reason that Ringworm is spread to other parts
of the body.

Additionally, it is extremely important to wash in hot water and bleach
blankets, fabrics and clothes that come directly into contact with the
infected areas of the skin. Likewise, if there is a need to use public
showers (try as much as possible to refrain from this), then use
footwear and avoid touching any walls if at all possible. Finally, you
should always try to keep your rash covered up as much as possible.
Spreading of Ringworm is much more likely due to contact, than it is
due to warm damp places.

Ringworm Prevention

As far as prevention is concerned, the options are very limited. Aside
from avoiding contact with pets and people who might have a Ringworm
infection, the suggestions for the prevention of spreading the disease
around the wearing of footwear and trying not to touch walls when using
public shower amenities holds true for trying not to be infected. What
makes things more difficult is that symptoms are often not visible for
some time after being infected. So you may pick up an infection from
someone not showing symptoms.

Most of all, if you find that you do have an infection, make sure that
you are diligent with respect to your care. The primary reason for
Ringworm lingering or spreading is due to people not keeping up on
their treatment.
